They know exactly the answer
but silence, uncertainty, are the frontrunner
While the master sleeps well,
the maid sits in her chair,
waiting,
tranquil, with her pale face.
The maid wants to leave but the master has asked her to wait,
–for him to awake.
Awaiting.
Another rhetorical question comes up
Why you have to wait while you have the liberty to run away?
Is it loyalty? Is it love? Is it compassion? Is it commitment or is it fulfilling promises? or is it just stupidity?
The maid closes her eyes. She waits.
That’s the only thing she knows.
Ia ingin sekali membuat puisi.
Puisi tentang laut.
Puisi tentang danau.
Puisi tentang hutan
Juga puisi tentang orang-orang yang ia kasihi.
Ia ingin sekali bernyanyi, memainkan piano sembari menyenandungkan lagu-lagu kegemarannya.
Namun kini mulut dan tangannya terkunci.
Ia sungguh takut jika puisinya, lagunya, alunan musiknya
menyebabkan banyak orang terluka.
Kini ia hanya bisa duduk di sudut ruangan,
tubuhnya mulai menggigil dan terus berusaha agar tetap waras.
Itulah satu-satunya yang ia miliki.
